On Wednesday, 18 May, Minister of Treasury Dawid Jackiewicz signed agreements concerning the grant-in-aid for financing the tasks related to the media services of the World Youth Days 2016, including the visit of Pope Francis to Poland. The agreement was executed with Polska Agencja Prasowa S.A., Katolicka Agencja Informacyjna Sp. z o.o. and Polskie Radio S.A. "This is a huge organisational challenge, and hence the state offers this aid", the minister explained.
According to the executed agreements, the funds are to support the companies participating in the preparations and organisation of the information and media services for the World Youth Days and the visit of the Pope to Poland.
In the process of signing the agreement, Minister Dawid Jackiewicz stressed the momentum of this event and the need for efficient organisation of the World Youth Days. "What is needed, is strong cooperation, coordination of all media services, i.e. Polskie Radio, Polish television, KAI and PAP. This cannot be done without the financial support, especially for PAP and KAI which do not have handling such events in their registered scope of business. This strong financial aid is to help you ensure the best level and quality of media services during the World Youth Days", said the Minister of Treasury to the media heads.
The Minister stressed the importance of the organisational and logistic preparation for the World Youth Days. "We all wish the World Youth Days, visit of the Pope to Poland, run smoothly, without any troubles, to ensure the pilgrims, all the participants of those events, are happy, can pray, contemplate and reflect", he said. He also mentioned that this event is a great opportunity to present Poland to the whole world.
KAI President, Marcin Przeciszewski, spoke for the media representatives. He thanked Minister Jackiewicz and reminded that the agreement execution crowns the one-year dialogue with the Ministry with respect to the media services for the World Youth Days. "We will make every effort to ensure the press service is prepared as well as possible. This is (...) an immense challenge, not faced by the media before", stressed KAI President. He added that the World Youth Days is a great chance to present Poland in the atmosphere of hope and joy.
PAP, together with KAI, is responsible for the broadly-taken media services of the event. This means e.g. preparation of press centres for journalists and the portal with the accreditation module and information. Moreover, Polska Agencja Prasowa handles the World Youth Days and the Pope's visit with its journalists and photojournalists, and has been preparing many materials devoted to the World Youth Days. TVP and Polskie Radio are the only official broadcasters of the event.
The World Youth Days start on 26 July in Krakow. Pope Francis will participate in them from 27 to 31 June. Poland will host such an event for the second time. Previously, it accommodated young people in August 1991 in Częstochowa.
