One of the biggest investments in the recent years in the Polish chemical industry will increase production and storage capacity of the Puławy plant and significantly reduce emissions.

The visit of the Minister in the Puławy plant began with a meeting with the company management. Next, Minister Karpiński went to see the facility to evaluate the innovativeness of the commissioned investments. Facilities for flue-gas desulfurization (FGD), production of liquid fertilizers with the PULASKA sulphur and New Logistics Centre form a perfect proof of the consistent implementation of the objectives of the Integrated Investment Programme of Zakłady Azotowe.

Minister Karpiński praised the technological advancement of new installations. Environmentally friendly FGD system, as one of the few in Europe, uses an innovative ammonium method in the purification process. This allows to decreace air pollution by 80% and significantly reduces the concentration of sulphur dioxide. The installation for the production of ammonium sulfate or urea-based liquid fertilizers, built as part of the New Fertiliser Production Facility, expands the product portfolio, and thus contributes to the diversification of the company's market potential.

The Minister of Treasury also visited the New Logistics Centre for granular fertilizers. The plant is equipped with a new packing centre with a total loading capacity of over 240 tonnes/h, and a warehouse that can hold up to 13 thousand tonnes of fertilizers.

The three new investments will more effectively compete in the fertilizer industry and strengthen the position of leadership in the global chemical markets.

During the celebration of commissioning the installation, Minister Karpiński stressed that the Polish economy was building a competitive advantage in comparison to the developed countries. "The Puławy plant shows that it is managed sensibly and efficiently. The Company Management Board considers the profitability of its operations, but in a reasonable way and in terms of moving forward. For the company, these new installations mean new jobs and a stable future. As an associate of the Prime Minister, in charge of the Ministry of Treasury, I am proud of the Polish economy. These investments are evidence of the current strength of the Polish economy. For me it is a source of pride, as an inhabitant of Puławy, a minister and a Pole"- said Minister Karpiński.

The Azoty Group Zakłady Azotowe Puławy SA, as part of consolidation of the Polish chemical sector, became one of the pillars of the Azoty Group. The company is the first in Poland and the second in Europe producer of nitrogen fertilizers and the world's third largest producer of melamine.
