News1st quarter of 2010: Growing volume of foreign investment in PolandIn the 1st quarter of 2010 Poland received EUR 3.5 billion of capital in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI), which constitutes nearly half of all the resources which Poland received in the entire 2009 and almost 2.5 times more than in the 1st quarter of 2008. High value of foreign direct investment in Poland in the 1st quarter of 2010 resulted mainly from reinvestment of profits by investors already present on the Polish market and from investment in equities. The inflow of resources in the form of loans from direct investors was another important factor in the increase of the value of foreign direct investment. Apart from considerable value of foreign direct investment, an increase in the number of new greenfield projects might be also observed in Poland. Due to the crisis of the last 2 years, there has been a global decrease in investment in capital intensive sectors and manufacturing sectors for the benefit of the service sector. Currently, Poland is, next to Ireland, the country receiving the highest investment in the Business Process Offshoring sector in Europe. More information can be found on the website of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ).
