The annual 2011 Stock Market Review Gala was held yesterday (9 February 2012) at Centrum Giełdowe in Warsaw. During the event, awards were presented to the most active capital market participants.

Minister of Treasury Mikołaj Budzanowski and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Treasury Paweł Tamborski participated in the 2011 Stock Market Review Gala at Centrum Giełdowe in Warsaw. The event was hosted by Ludwik Sobolewski, President and CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

During the event, awards were presented to exchange members and authorised advisers who were the most active on the capital market and made a special contribution to its development in 2011.

As Minister Budzanowski pointed out in his opening remarks "Warsaw Stock Exchange is the epitome of economic freedom. It is both a symbol of people's free decision, and a symbol of Polish pride and economy, which has moved forward considerably over the last 20 years". The Minister positively assessed the condition of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which last year ranked first in terms of number of debuts in Europe and third in terms of total value of debuting companies. "The stock market is currently a well-functioning mechanism and a combination of four elements. It is a place where global capital, global issuers, global institutions and global products meet together". The Minister also emphasized how important, in this system of connected vessels, is the part played by the Treasury, which appears on the stock exchange in a double role - both as the co-owner, which supervises and gives impetus to act, as well as the floor leader.

The awards were given in the following categories: Main Market, New/Connect Market, and Catalyst Market. They were awarded for, among others, the highest number of domestic IPOs, the highest share in trading sessions, and the highest IPO value of companies.

Guests of the event included representatives of the key institutions of the capital market: issuers, brokers, banks, investment firms, as well as industry organisations and associations.
