Mr. Aleksander Grad was born on May 1, 1962 in the village of Łosiniec.

He graduated from the Industrial Geodesy Department at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow.

In the years 1989 - 1997 – Mr. Grad was an entrepreneur.

In the years 1990 – 1994, he was Councillor and Deputy Borough Leader (Alderman) at the Gmina of the village of Pleśna (gmina being the smallest administrative entity in Poland).

In the years 1997 – 1999, Mr. Grad was the Governor of the Tarnowskie Province and the Chairman of the Małopolska Regional Council.

From 1999 until 2000 Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health, responsible for the budget, finances and investment. At the time, Mr. Grad was also a World Bank consultant, chairman of the PHARE Program Steering Committee (PHARE - Inredi Tourin III) and the co-author of the Małopolska Region Farming and Rural Development Program.

Starting from 2001, Mr. Grad was Member of the 4th Parliament, representing the Civic Platform Parliamentary Club, he was Deputy Chairman for the European Union.

In 2001 - Małopolska Forum for Support of Local Initiatives in the city of Tarnów, a founding member.

In the years 2004 – 2006 - Chairman of the Civic Platform in the Małopolska region.

Starting from 2005 - Member of the 4th Parliament, representing the Civic Platform Parliamentary Club, he was Chairman of the Parliamentary State Treasury Committee.

Since 2006, Mr. Grad has been the Civic Platform’s spokesperson for farming and rural development.
